All of us at Sunway University extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late Mr Teng Yew Huat, founder of Jaya Grocer.

The late Yew Huat, a close personal friend of mine, was a visionary and successful entrepreneur who transformed the retail industry nationwide.

A true Malaysian, Yew Huat was also deeply committed to the nation-building through his generous philanthropic initiatives.

We truly cherish and appreciate Yew Huat's immense generosity with his RM5 million donation to endow a professorial chair in Sunway University.

The RM5 million gift will be managed and preserved by the not-for-profit Jeffrey Cheah Foundation, in perpetuity. All investment returns will support and fund the research work of preeminent scholars in the field of marketing, as Yew Huat intended.

Among the first to be established at Sunway University, we will uphold his legacy through the Teng Yew Huat Endowed Chai of Marketing, ensuring that many generations of students will benefit from his selfless contribution.

The professorial chair at Sunway University is currently occupied by Professor Linda D. Hollebeek, a world-renowned authority in Customer Engagement and Marketing.
